Family Night - First Monday of every month, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Join us at Stokes Nature Center for free, family-oriented activities. Come enjoy the wonders of nature with your family. There is no registration required and no fee to participate. All programs are designed to be fun and interactive for all ages. Next family nights are June 2nd, July 7th, and August 4th.

Bear River Celebration and Free Fishing Day, June 7, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Stokes Nature Center will be hosting a booth at this year’s Bear River Celebration and Free Fishing Day at Willow Park (600 S. 100 W. in Logan). Find us at this fun community event and make a free Fishprint craft to take home.

Saturday Activity: Fish Kites, June 14, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Join us at Stokes Nature Center for a fun family activity. Use found objects such as sticks and small stones as well as paints and paper to create a kite shaped like a fish or another animal. Each kite will cost $2 to make and can be brought home to enjoy for the rest of the summer! Supplies will be provided.

Introduction to Organic Pest Control, June 28, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Stokes Nature Center invites gardeners to learn some alternative ways to suppress common garden pests. Led by local entomologist Erin Hodgson, this class will teach you about beneficial insects and organic/reduced risk solutions for managing insect problems. Costs are $4 ($3 for SNC members).

Saturday Activity: Solar Cooking, July 12, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Join us at Stokes Nature Center for a fun family activity. Learn how to cook food using solar energy: a great survival skill and a lot of fun! We’ll use the sun to cook some delicious hot dogs and veggie dogs. You are welcome to bring additional food to cook. Each person who plans to cook will need to pay $3. Supplies will be provided.

Intro to Geocaching, July 26th, 9:30 a.m. to Noon
Look for us at the Green Canyon Parking area for a morning of Geocaching fun. We will spend some time together getting to know the GPS units. Then we'll practice what we've learned by setting off with our GPS units to find the hidden clues of a scavenger hunt. We will also talk about resources available to Cache Valley Geocachers. We'll supply the GPS units or bring your own from home. Costs are $6 for members, $8 for non-members, or $25 for a group of 5.

Saturday Activity: Dream Catchers, August 9, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Come up to Stokes Nature Center on Saturday August 9th to look around and make dream catchers from native willow. Dream catchers trap bad dreams and let them fall off the hanging feathers. Cost is $1 per craft.

Stokes Nature Center Presents the Guinavah-Malibu Free Summer Series
Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
All programs are free of charge, open to the public and are for all ages. The Amphitheater is located 5.3 miles up Logan Canyon in the Guinavah-Malibu Campground. Parking space is limited, please carpool. Programs begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
July 3rd: Snakes of the Canyon
Learn more about a few of our native snakes and then meet one or two up close and personal.
July 10th: Dinosaurs and Fossils
Come support some of our summer campers as they perform skits, presentations and more about dinosaurs and fossils.
July 17th: Utah Rock Art
Discover the wonders of Utah's prehistoric rock art. Listen to Native American folklore and create your own rock art to take with you.
July 31st: Edible and Medicinal Plants
Learn about edible and medicinal plants that can be found in Logan Canyon, you may be surprised how tasty these plants are.
August 7th: Campfire Games
Join us for a good old-fashion evening of games, songs and stories.
August 14th: Wilderness Survival Skills
Come learn to start a fire and prepare yourself for survival situations in the outdoors.

Star Party
Mark your calendars for our annual Star Party! This year, Stokes Nature Center teams up with the American West Heritage Center to bring you a party scheduled around the climax of the Perseid Meteor Shower. Join us for a night of star gazing with the help of powerful telescopes and knowledgeable interpreters. Other activities include a night hike, StarLab from USU, films about space and stars, and star-related crafts and games.
