Knee High Naturalists (ages 4-7) 

Crawl, splash, dig, and search your way through nature. Be inspired by stories and create nature experiences during this outdoor play time.

Session I

June 16 - 19 (Monday - Thursday), 10:00 a.m. to Noon

Session II

July 28 - 31 (Monday - Thursday), 10:00 a.m. to Noon

Sessions I and II feature different stories and activities.
Program Fee: $25 SNC members, $32 non-members (per session, per child)

2nd and 3rd graders

Fossils and Dinos and Rocks, Oh My!

July 7 - 11 (Monday - Friday), 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Overnight at Stokes Nature Center Thursday evening
(Extended care option: M-Th, 3-5pm)

Dinosaur Detectives! Dig for fossils and discover what creatures roamed Utah millions of years ago. Discover where dinosaurs lived, what they ate, and explore the mystery of why they disappeared! Spend one night at the Nature Center and enjoy some dinorrific nighttime activities.

Program Fee: $125 SNC members, $140 non-members


4th and 5th graders

Fort and Shelter Building in the Wild

July 14 - 18 (Monday - Friday), 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Overnight at Stokes Nature Center Thursday evening
(Extended care option: M-Th, 3-5pm)


Discover your mountainous backyard. We’ll build forts and shelters, and sharpen our outdoor skills while exploring the forest’s hidden wonders.
Program Fee: $125 SNC members, $140 non-members



6th through 8th graders

Outdoor Survival Camp

August 4 - 8 (Monday - Friday), 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Overnight at Stokes Nature Center Thursday evening
(Extended care option: M-Th, 3-5pm)

Are you interested in making fire without matches, fishing without hooks, cooking without a kitchen? These are skills needed to survive in the wilderness without tools or equipment. This camp will teach you these skills as well as how to find water, signal for help and survive harsh conditions. An overnight campout at the end of the week will allow you to practice your survival skills and show us what you have learned.
Program Fee: $130 SNC members, $145 non-members


Art in Nature Camps

Grade levels are based

on the 2008-09 school year.

2nd and 3rd graders
Art in the Canyon
June 30 - July 3 (Monday - Thursday), 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Capture the wonders and mysteries of nature using your artistic skills. We will guide your creativity into works of art through many different mediums, including drawing, painting, movement and drama.
Program Fee: $60 SNC members, $70 non-members

4th and 5th graders
Natural Nature Photography
A USU ArtsBridge Partnership

June 23 - 27 (Monday - Friday), 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Speak Through Pictures. Use alternative photographic processes to express yourself through pictures. Explore a part of the world as you explore a part of who you are. Discover what the world is telling you and what you want to tell the world.

Program Fee: $100 SNC members, $115 non-members

Payment and Refund Policies
Space in the program is limited. Your payment ensures your child's registration in the program. If you need to cancel your registration, please call us at 435-755-3239 so that we can make your reserved space available to someone else. We will refund your payment if you cancel at least 10 days prior to the first class meeting. If you cancel within 10 days of the first class, we will refund 80% of your payment if we can fill your reserved spot. If we cannot fill your spot, we cannot refund your money.

Scholarship Fund
If you would like to contribute to the SNC Summer Youth Programs Scholarship Fund, your money will go directly toward another child’s participation in a summer youth program. The option to contribute to this fund is outlined on the registration form.

Scholarship Information

A limited number of scholarships are available for Summer Camps. Scholarships are awarded based on need of applicants and availability of funds. To apply, fill out the form below. For more information, call 435-755-3239.

Boy Scout Badges

Boy Scouts Environmental Science Badge

May 31, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

$25 per scout     

                                                                                                                             

A full day of science and experiments for boy scouts, fulfilling the requirements this outstanding badge! Space is limited, pre-registration is required.
Registration deadline: May 9

How to Schedule: Call SNC with your choice of badge program and potential dates.

Program must have a minimum of eight scouts. Parent/ Chaperone be present.
SNC members receive a 20% discount. Group discounts may be available.

Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for all Scout Programs.

Nature Discovery Hour- 1 hour - $2 per person ($20 minimum)

Join anSNC naturalists on a tour of the nature center including displays and animals. Tour includes a 45 minute guided exploration plus 15 minute exploration.

Nature Hot Topics - 1 hour - $3 per person ($20 minimum)

Explore a specific topic: Geology, Birds, Fossils, Animal Signs, Native Plants, River, Trees, or Weather.
