Natural Dyeing Workshop: How to Create a Rainbow of Colors from Plants

  • Stokes Nature Center 2696 U.S. Highway 89 Logan, UT, 84321 (map)

Learn the beautiful art of natural dyeing! In this week-long workshop, textile artist Molly Zimmer will lead you through interactive demonstrations on how to create a rainbow of colors from indigo (blue), dyer’s weld (yellow) and madder root (red), and practice traditional “shibori” tie-dye techniques.

Participants will feel confident with the process of natural dying; mordanting protein and cellulose fibers, and overdyeing colors. Students will take home their own dye book of samples, mini skeins of dyed yarns from the class, a small woven bag, and dyed fabric swatches. Beginner and intermediate natural dyers welcome. All materials will be provided.

Youth registering need to have a registered parent or guardian attend with them.

July 19-23, 6pm-9pm daily

Cost: $150

Location: Stokes Nature Center
